Vidya Balan, Siddharth Roy Kapur tied the knot in a quiet wedding

The Ooh La La girl, Vidya Balan finally tied knots with her beau Siddharth Roy Kapoor, CEO of UTV on 14th December 2012 at the Green Mile bungalow in Bandra, Mumbai. The pre-wedding celebrations and the wedding ceremony remained a silent affair for the couple. Vidya always remained silent on the rumours about her relationship status with Siddharth.

The wedding of Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapoor was followed by pre-wedding dinner bash and Sangeet on the same day which was completely a family affair held on 11th December 2012 at La Mode Banquet in Juhu. The actress chose to dazzle in her traditional pattu saree and her would-be hubby wore a simple off white Kurta.

The Sangeet ceremony of Siddharth and Vidya Balan was attended by relatives and very close friends from Bollywood. Vidya’s cousins were said to have prepared a medley of popular Hindi songs.

The pre-wedding dinner bash of Siddharth Roy Kapoor and Vidya was followed by the Mehndi ceremony which took place at her Khar residence. It was also a family affair with not a single guest from the Film Industry. Vidya was dressed up in a yellow saree with golden motifs in Bengali style and flaunted floral jewellery from tika to three-layered mala and slave bracelet for the occasion. The Mehndi applied to the bride too was very simple.

For the D-Day Vidya Balan is said to have worn 3 different traditional silk sarees from Chennai including one in mustard with a pink blouse. The menu chosen for the wedding included South Indian dishes and the decorations reflected the typical south Indian culture. The groom wore yellow kurta and pink turban for the wedding.

The guest list of Vidya Balan’s wedding seemed to be a low profile affair with the only yesteryear Bollywood diva, Rekha turning up to bless the couple. Among others from the industry was the actress’s favourite designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The guest from the groom, Siddharth Roy Kapoor’s side included UTV chief Ronnie Screwvala with wife Zarine.

The wedding vows of Siddharth and Vidya started from 10.am and the marriage rituals continued for two hours after which the couple finally chose to appear before the media. The actress who has soft corners for silk kanjeevaram sarees appeared in red silk saree teamed with gold traditional jewellery and sported sindoor and red bindi. The only Punjabi thing about her appearance was red bangles (choodas) which normally the Punjabi brides wear after getting married.

It was supposedly rumoured earlier that Vidya will wed Siddharth in a temple in Chembur but with the wedding being taken place in the bungalow put end to these grapevines. They are now said to have a reception in Chennai.
